Most companies received Switch SKUs 12 months before launch. They're not porting games because they think it'll fail. They simply don't have the time to do so, and they can't afford to delay games that have been in the making for years just to launch it on the Switch.

It's why they're quick to port Skyrim, Xenoverse, and Fifa. Because those games have been made, and it wouldn't further inflate the budget of unreleased projects that have a 50/50 chance of succeeding. Nobody knows if Code Vein will be a hit, so why increase the budget of Code Vein for a Switch port?

There's also the fact that not even Nintendo had anticipated the Switch to do so well.

If they released it at a reasonable price for the hardware and didn't charge for online then no one would have doubted it should sell well. But, yes, given it's shit design and pricing it is surprising that it does so well. That is of course, until one realizes people's susceptibility to thinking that things constantly selling out, means that they must be good. That's why Nintendo never meets demand. It's to artificially inflate "value" in people's mind.

The thing is, Nintendo knows how many people who up for the raffles, and online retailers share page view statistics with them. They're undersupplying Japan because demand is low. They're supplying just under demand, that way they can keep the illusion of a "hot item"

If they had shipped 100,000 units that week instead of 23,000, it wouldn't have sold out. They don't want that.

Except they DID do just that. Even the online support has been delayed an entire year. They just didn't have much confidence in it because it's the successor to the fucking Wii U.
