Its such a fucking step down, and it only gets a pass from the /vg/ faggots because MUH AQUA

THANK YOU! BBS has the worst story or it ties with DDD which is still pretty shitty. Recoded had the best Keyblade system, the best ability system, and the best command deck system as they link/chain to your meele attacks very cleanly. The game was also faster than BBS, and comparing their game speeds is like comparing DmC to DMC3SE.

Come on, coded has better combat than BBS?, BBS at least had variety, what the fuck did Coded have?, plus the level design was atrocious and incredibly plain.

I'm not a fan of Disney or anything, but at least BBS could keep its charm well enough and most worlds where new.

The biggest flaw was having to revisit everything three times and the enemy design, but its still one of the better KH games.

Still not as cool as Chain of Memories tho.

I did like days, its just that its too many missions that don't feel relevant or make for a simple and clean story progression.

Plus, the lvl / ability / magic / inventory / weapon system was fucking madness. Cool gimmick to learn and master but by god is it weird as hell.

Forgot to add on that I feel that KH2FM has the best gameplay. 0.2 and 3 are top tier by default since you can cancel attack animations with dodge roll, air dodge or jump which can't be done in previous games. Chaining magic to meele attacks are also very smooth in 2FM and 0.2.

KH Gameplay Tier List:

KH3: It has the improvements to the core mechanics that 0.2 brought like being able to cancel attack animations with defensive manuevers. It also gives you a ton of options as Sora was using his KH1 moves in the trailer. He used Slapshot (KH1FM) as a combo finisher, and he used Sonic Blade in mid-air which is AMAZING. He also seems to have a lot of spells and new drive forms. Dunno if Freeflow is restricted to boss fights such as Rock Titan, but using it anywhere would make this the best game.
tl;dr Core Mechanics Improvements from 0.2 + KH2FM Options + Free Flow from 3D = GOAT

These games do their job. They provide a good amount of options. You can tell who's a scrub in KH1 if they don't choose to max out magic. GBA CoM's card breaks work better than the ones in Re:CoM is the reason why I prefer GBA over PS2.

KH 3D: Fixes some of the issues with BBS. Aerial combat is improved as more commands can be used in the mid-air. Better balance than BBS. Freeflow is fun and level design is made larger to complement it.

Re:CoM As said before the GBA version handled card breaks better. For instance, card breaking a projectile will stagger the enemy, but it won't get rid of the projectile making it unsafe to counter.

BBS: This game is broken. Combat feels sloppier than KH1. Command system is handled better in Re:Coded and 3D. TAV have less movement options than any other playable combatitive character in the series. Balance is shit compared to every other games. Enemies have lower health, but they rarely stagger

If enemies had less HP then I would love it so much more. The "harder" enemies were just recolors of normal enemies that are slightly bigger and had multiple bars of HP. The superboss in Twilight Town was cancer, and don't get me started on that dragon thing in Neverland.

Super fun otherwise. I loved the stat/ability board thing.

Good list. I don't understand why so many people love the BBS gameplay, sure it's fun the first time around like most KH games, but it's just so fucking broken. And i think most people that liked it never even touched the optional content

358 is worse OP but I still agree that BBS wasn't too good. The worlds were just empty and it was a chore after the first storyline. Is it better in the HD remake? Gonna pick those up soon and replay them all before 3.

I love BBS even though I can acknowledge it's flaws and a accept KH2 as the superior.

But let's not for a moment pretend KH1 wasn't a clunky mess of a game. Holy shit playing that after so many years again it's so slow unintuitive and as much as KH1 has the best world design, the platforming was atrocious and some of the shit made an otherwise simple world feel dragged on (looking at you deep jungle) That's not even beginning the gummi ship nonsense.

Honestly after playing KH1 again it's probably my 2nd least favorite, I even fuck with coded more

And I still love the game after the fact.

Honestly, they did the command system better later, but here it was the first time it was done. Also Shotlock which was a bit meh but I liked it still and drives, which where awesome.

BBS put a lot of new elements and was the biggest risk the series took since the original CoM, and let me tell you, it was a blast to play.

You can trash it all you want, but BBS did lay the foundation for a good portion of the later games one way or another.

Days is fine when it comes to the crazy amount of customization you get but it drops the ball literally everywhere else. Enemies just have way too much health and defense, magic goes from really good to worthless as soon as you go to a -ra or -ga which just should not happen at all (Blizzaga being like the only decent -ga of the lot because it's a proximity mine), for a game about the Organization you learn next to nothing about people not named Axel, Roxas, or Xion, and Saix basically just farts around giving you orders at the very best, the story takes ages to move on, and nearly everyone in the Organization multiplayer mode is useless compared to simply using Roxas, even Sora. Seriously, you are better off with either Roxas or Saix if you want to deal damage in a timely manner.

Days had potential but it kept failing at every single attempt it tried.
