crts having good black levels is only a thing if you use them in pitch dark rooms because the colour of the tube is the darkest black it can do. compare the black on the lcd to the black on the fw900 in a normally lit room. keep in mind the fw900 has a relatively dark tube compared to most crts so it will usually be even worse than this.

There's still a lot to be said for CRTs and it's sad we never got an improved version, but that's the least fair comparison picture ever. Modern LCDs are a ton better now.
