It's not too bad, especially with other costs being really low out here. You can get a good house for $300k in a decent area out here that would be over 1mil in California. Gas prices are almost a dollar cheaper too. I don't know, there are trade offs for sure but I've moved around the country quite a bit and Arizona has been the biggest quality of life for me so far.
