I won't be mad, I would be laughing. It just confirms the rumor that Capcom is breaking apart and divisions are literally fighting each other. Prepare for a big restructuring of the company, shrinking of divisions and major players being let go, again. You thought that Capcom games lacked polish before? The open world "curse" is that it gets implemented as a pile of filler. Open world isn't bad in principle, it's actually full of amazing potential which we've seen great slivers of, but developers treat it as something that's popular and easy to do.

At worst, open world is just a recipe for a dead, empty feeling game devoid of excitement (see: Skyrim). The only way a game like that is bearable is if you're in your head staring into nothing but some possibility of something interesting being out there in the game world. That's the "enjoyment" of many game players today, they just play whatever lets them put some numbing head-game on repeat. That's not being immersed in a game, that's just resistance getting creative (and autistic).

Monster Hunter already has filler, but it goes down as you play it and it's really reduced by playing well (i.e. not having to go gather resources). I really don't know what to expect from it being open world, for all I know it'll reinvent the designation.
