Asteroids fall on the Earth and shit, countries get destabilized, massive refugee crisis in the east, war breaks out over there.

Then in the west some greedy expansionist decide to take territory which isn't theirs for no fucking reason, war breaks out between western superpowers.

Fifteen years later the loyalist remnants of that defeated country decide to send triple agents to the victorious countries posing as ally defectors. Agents kidnap both presidents and destabilize the government making them fight each other so they can get revenge by nuking the shit out of them.

That's where things get a bit blurry in the story. You see, Belka was in the middle of a crisis and internal political struggle. One particular party (called the Rald Party) took over the government during the heat of the war. The party was filled with lunatics, saying that Belka was a holy land that shouldn't be defiled and shit, and they got so desperate to protect the north, they decided to sacrifice their own people to do it. Now this was not a decision done by the armed forces but by an internal radical group, and it shows. During the mission where you get to see the bombs actually being dropped, several Belkan Air Force pilots can be seen trying to shoot down their own trying to stop the launch.
