With the proper architecture you can actually pull performance out of the parts. Trouble is consoles so far have been really shitty at that. They SHOULD be able to get better performance for the components than a PC can because there would be less overhead and more specialization, but historically the games have always been poorly optimized and that's largely the fault of the console manufacturers themselves making their consoles difficult to develop on.

The fact that they made such a deal out of backwards capabilities to the original Xbox era was a bit pathetic considering that it should have been there at launch. I know that at those higher graphical settings it starts to become a diminishing return for the amount of frames you lose and the XboneX will be more sensible on that regard but we are still talking of a APU on par with a RX580/480. My PS4 Slim and PC I built in 2012 with one upgrade can play everything I need.

I just don't see at this point the need for an upgrade to 4K when most televisions haven't really come down to prices I find reasonable.

Maybe if manufacturers bring crazy low prices by this holiday with black friday/cyber monday out the ass then I might be on board.

However, if Sony's cheeky as fuck and delivers say a PS4 Pro by then at 299 then all bets are off. It's the cheaper alternative and kinda almost as good.
