Fuck, I wish FEAR was more like Shogo and did not take itself so seriously. Something with self-consciousely retarded plot and art style like Shogo but the gunplay of FEAR would probably make my all time favorite game.

The selection really isn't all that great, to be honest. I'm trying to think.
Serious Sam always had good vicera and blood - especially the last one, but it's also extremely arcadey and you don't even get to shoot people.
I guess STALKER, kinda if you aren't stuck with peashooters. But then again it's very technical - a bit clunky and very much long-distance contact oriented most of the time.

Crysis allows you to fuck around enemies in a fun way, but the guns feel like shit and arbitrary sprey like hell on realistic difficulty...
I really am kinda out of ideas. Everything is either very arcade-like and barely features humans, or it's kinda clunky or unsatisfying.

Quake 4 maybe. It felt satisfying as heck to shoot Strogg in that game.

Also The Evil Within had satisfying shooting with bullets blowing bits and pieces off the head.

Metro Last Light and 2033 redux had some good shooting but sometimes it doesn't feel right. I can't explain it but shooting armour pieces off hostiles opening them up to being riddled with bullets feels great.

Check them all out anon. They're good stuff though 2033 original is better.

That Mordor shit isn't that bad, to be honest. I'm not a big fan of the whole genre but Mordor has been the one that actually introduced a some mechanics worth playing for.

That said, I would much rather see the old Monolith and the new one. I loved their cheezy FPS games.

FEAR is actually a pretty damn flawed, if not terrible game in many regards, but much like Shogo, it had a certain charm to it that I make it really difficult NOT to love. I think they lost that sensibility.

Story is shit, and yes the scenery can get repetitive, but everything else was amazing. (graphics, audio, music, atmosphere and especially the gameplay which still hasn't been surpassed to this very day in my opinion)

The idea is original of course.
But I don't feel it has been executed well. Going through the game for the first time, it's hard to get a knowledge of what's happening.
After playing the game so many times I still didn't fully know what was happening, I needed to look into wiki for most of the things to be clear for me.

To be fair, apparently the game Day 1 Studios was making was not FEAR 3 at all and then WB decided late in development it would be and so, on a very tight schedule, they had to change a completely unrelated game into FEAR 3 as best they could.

6/10, only gun I enjoyed was the assault rifle; the bullet time somehow felt 'wrong' as well, although I can't put my finger on exactly why.
