Chasing monsters through drab zones, killing the same monsters over and over for materials, limited movement compared to other similar titles so ultimately, no matter how much autists will say it's about 'skill', it's just bashing things down while half-heartedly paying attention to positioning and praying that you're geared up/prepared enough to not get fucked over. Not him but PS2 is an awful console. It had a split graphics architecture with a separate unit for processing vertices. It was notoriously difficult and expensive to develop for, especially during the first few years of the console's life.

The frame buffer (VRAM) was only 4 MB resulting in the vast majority of the library having a 640x240 resolution where interlaces fields were actually rendered alternating odd and even vertically offset frames. This caused massive aliasing and looks like pure garbage on modern displays. 60fps games turn into pixelated messes in motion on modern displays. Progressive games were like 512x448. Even at 4K on emulators the 640x240 games have to be deinterlaced and look like garbage. This is also apparent on the PS4 PS2 originals.

The first two generations of PS2 hardware has a laser that will stop reading CDs and dual layer DVDs even if you never use it.

The controller was the same as the PSX dual shock with the same unergonomic design that the PSX launched with in 1994 which was six years old when PS2 came out. Oh it had analog buttons which only like five games ever even used.

The PS2 was complete and utter trash, a total waste of everybody's time. Sadly it sold the most and accumulated a large library of games. Some of them memorable. Most of them garbage
