Personally I didn't buy it. It looks good, but it didn't look fun. I was afraid it was another The Order 1886. It doesn't help that all of the webms that get posted don't ever show anything, they're just cutscenes, panning across the environment, or that one where she's running while shit flies around. Truth is that most PS4 exclusives don't have any staying power, they get hyped for months if not years then when it actually releases everyone realizes it's mediocre and forgets about it. It's a good game though. It has some issues (what game doesn't) but it has a lot of fun fighting encounters that always require a good bit of thought. You really start to appreciate the weapons and the enemies once you see how just small changes in enemy composition really affect a fight. Consequently every robot animal encounter is very dynamic.

The world itself is gorgeous the art design really is tremendous.

The hand to hand fighting is a bit jacked up but it is a good open world game. I have some issues with the pre-baked climbing as well. And sometimes the game pushes way too hard on the "walk halfway across the map" thing. But its a good game.

Many polls have proven that PC is the main platform, but I would guess that many would prefer Nintendo over any console due to PC being the best machine for multiplats. This happened with TLG. Extreme overhype and then dead silence.

It looks cooler then it actually is, the world is fairly barren, the gameplay is pretty boring, and the game has a tendency to try and play itself (magic homing arrows) I returned it pretty quick. If you have a pro the eye candy might be worth it., but beyond that it's just another mediocre open world with a fee neat robot dino interactions.

The Combat is stupid. Projectiles feel like hitscan with trajectory trace, but even the trajectory feels awkward. Arrows has no hitbox and are 100% super accurate and always hit the dead center pixel of your crosshair which is a bad thing. Bombs, traps and shit like that are fun for the first couple of hours, but about halfway into the game the variety ends and you just use the same shit every time.
Crafting is fucking trash and a chore and doesn't work with other gameplay mechanics together at all, rather against it. You can remove it from the game and actually make it better. Out of arrows? Just craft some more while you're being shot at from 7 directions! Out again? No problem dude! Tired of being out of ammo every 10 seconds? CRAFT A FUCKING LARGER QUIVER

Big open empty world with nothing to do. Sidequests are 50% garbage and 50% broken, robotic vaults while are fun for the first couple of times quickly become tedious as fuck.
Stealth is broken, like zero AI for both robots and humans, just slam oneshot heavy attacks from the bushes to beat the game. And the game having some sort of variety to approach the combat (traps, bombs, bows, grenade launchers AND stealth) make it look even worse. Like if that's an optional way for some people who like sneaking, why do you make it so easy and brainless? Shit even stealth in Skyrim is way better, and HZD actually puts quite a big emphasis on it. It's awkward as hell
Parkour and climbing is weird. On one side it's a no-brainer "hold x to climb" and on the other it's "you can climb only specifically designed yellow ledges". Can't even climb a 1.5 meter tall rock? Fuck outta here
Also I had a lot of issues with writing and especially with dialogues, but that's outside of topic, so I'll skip that.

I think it's a decent game, but also doesn't really do anything new or interesting or worth talking about. Every part of it feels like hand-picked tried-and-tested but now stale parts of other games you've played before. While they did a good job combining those things into a cohesive game, where other design-by-committee games often fumble, the end result still isn't very exciting.

Also I personally thought the backstory of the world was pretty neat, but Aloy's personal story and what you actually do in the game was incredibly weak.

That's actually a good video to get an idea of what the combat can be like. Shit is literally flying at you from all direction and you're trying to dodge, aim and generally not get the ever loving crap beat out of your ginger ass.

It's a lot of fun and very engaging but seriously fucking Glinthawks and Stormbirds can go fuck themselves. So annoying to get a bead on flying enemies in this game.

Complete honesty, here: I can't stand that Aloy wouldn't shut the fuck up. I played it for about an hour and a half, and boy howdy she just felt the need to narrate every little fucking thing. This method of exposition irritates me across all media.

I'm sure the game kicks ass. It seemed pretty cool. But it would have been better if they just let me see it without Aloy talking through it all.

I'm enjoying the world a lot more than the actual game. I think I'm a little over half way and the combat is so stale when you're not fighting the robots. Clearing out Eclipse feels tedious.

Honestly, as I'm playing this I just keep thinking of neat spin off games. I'd love to have a prequel in the vein of Starship Troopers where you play an FPS holding off the infestation of robots. Those audio logs talking about them dropping buildings and shit on the robots sounded pretty neat.
