So now that this is known to be happening, what are your hopes/expectations?

I'd like to see better performance and camera/gun control, and more varied enemies and bizarre enemy designs.

I expect none of these.

I played it on the PS4 so I guess the controls and the aiming felt less responsive than if I had played it on the PC. To be honest I only played until Chapter 9, then I was in an open area with two of those chainsaw dudes and had no ammo so I uninstalled the game to clear up space.

I enjoyed the evil within alot and decided to replay it a few months ago
about midway through the game I realized my brain had done an amazing job of forgetting all of the slow boring levels and only remembering the good ones. there's alot of points in that game that drag.

I actually liked that, it sorta felt like a dream.
As for weapons i just hope they don't lock weapons behind collectibles. NG+ would have been a lot more interesting with the map pieces weapons. But you had to collect all those things to get the upgrades... gets boring real fast.

One of the halo games in the master chief collection can be played with all forms of auto aim disabled and so long as you don't suck at using the sticks it's perfectly reasonable even on legendary.

Evil Within was such a messed up, broken game. You can just tell that it started as a straightforward RE4 clone and got stealth and crafting mechanics forced into it halfway through development because Last of Us became a hit. The result is a game with busted mechanics that doesn't know what it wants to do. On top of that it had the Bethesda quality control, meaning it would crash randomly and was almost unplayable on launch.

The really frustrating part is that it still had good parts, it just could have been so much more.

That might happen. Remember EW 1 was made on ID tech 5 which Bethesda shoved down Tango Gameworks throat. This wouldn't be so big of an issue if the engine had Japanese documentation which it did not.

Seeing how Bethesda has let Arkane use Cryengine 3 for Prey, it's likely they allowed Tango to use whatever engine they wanted to use for EW1.

Mikami announced that TEW1 was his last directorial title and made it very clear in interviews. Though he also said that THREE FUCKING TIMES BEFORE.

That said, the director is one of three people.

Ikumi Nakamura, the game's lead concept designer. She designed all of the creatures and did a lot of concept art for Bayonetta.

John Johanas, who was a level designer for the first game, and then went on to write/direct the DLC chapters as Kidman.

Shigenori Nishikawa, who was the director of MadWorld and the DLC as The Keeper.

More sprint is very useful. Spend it mostly on critical, damage and ammo capacity. Don't spend any on melee attacks or bolts you don't use much.

Also some general game tips. If you use a flash bolt or throw a bottle at a haunted's head, it'll stun them allowing you to stealth kill them from the front. Also matchsticks don't work like in RE Remake. They should be used in combat and timed correctly so any enemies above/near the corpse catch fire which are easy kills.

Prioritise pistol and it's ammo capacity, it'll see you through for most of the game.

Ok so, in the main story you learn from journal entries that Sebastian had a wife and child. His daughter dies in a fire (which is alluded to being related to Mobius), his wife, who also worked for KPD ends up going missing after getting into the case. This causes Sebastian to become a drunk.

In the DLC they explicitly show you how hard it hit Seb, when you go inside KPD. Now, while the DLC shows that Sebastian got out and Joseph is still alive (check his pulse), it also drops the bombshell that Myra, Sebastian's wife is the person in charge of Mobius. It also explains that she was willing to allow Sebastian to die to get Leslie out of Mobius.

I felt like the stealth dlc had way too much story and talking to not get head spinningly boring. The other one was a bit better but still eh. I found the environments kind of bland and full of noise if that makes sense? Something that REmake and Re7 still amazingly is that a few rooms could take up a lot of time just because of all the small details and exploring you want to do. A third person like TEW just cant give you that same feeling of exploring and environments like science labs and offices are just general computer set ups copy and pasted with no immersion.

I hated the stealth focus of the dlc.

As for environments, I didn't mind. They made up for it with variety. I really didn't expect the range of locales you go to when I first played through it especially when it got to the city chapters which I enjoyed alot apart from the bus and turret section.

It was literally RE4 just better because you could actually move sideways. The only reason I can think people found the controls difficult is because you had to use a lot of different equipment/commands and you could easily press the wrong buttons at times or couldn't switch weapons quickly enough, but it's not like that's the game's fault, it was a more complex game than RE4 and you needed more time to get used to the controls.

I'd like to see a focus on more long-term exploration and survival.
I liked the over the top surreal structure of the first, but I felt like it changed shit way too frequently. Right as I was getting really interested in an area, wanted to explore it more, it would bring me to some totally different place.
