Am I wrong thinking this was a boring walking simulator?
It had a better than average video game related story with some good horror elements and a good soundtrack but still, it was just too much of doing nothing.
Walking simulator didn't become a bad phrase until recently.
Silent Hill 2 is a legitimately genius artistic game. Its primary triumph is how the ending changes depending on your long term play style, rather than arbitrary dialogue choices that modern games do.
But sure, I guess by today's buzzword definitions, with the mediocre combat, the emphasis on avoiding combat, and a larger focus on puzzles and navigation, it could be considered a "walking simulator".

I guess I should view it more as a puzzle game than anything then, it had some great puzzles and I shouldn't have viewed it as a part action game like RE.
