The dialog is cringy and feels like it was written by a 13 year old that's going through their XD phase. It's incredibly floaty and the characters that you do get to play as range from boring and slow to outright annoying. Dropped it after a few matches. Paladins is a better game but not by a long shot. It still needs work but it isn't bad for a f2p game.

Because there is a thing called "Lore challenges", are millestones that if you complete the 5 you have, it get you an epic gear piece, and unlock an achivement

Caldarious have a challenge that you need to play 150 enemies with his Blade attack as in the same team as Rath.

This match had a Rath in my team, so I try to get the most kills with the blade.
This challenge is better done in meltdown and PVE, but some extra kills wont hurt anybody.

Also, capture isnt my favorite mode, because alot of the time one team just steamroll the other team

Here's the difference, compare an ordinary screenshot of Battleborn with tons of extraneous information to thta screenshot.
Every bit of information in that screenshot is necessary for the player to know. The objective is captured, you just killed an enemy, you're pushing the payload, you have reduced healing.
You also have the tooltip enabled because it would clutter up the HUD more, but you don't realize that you can turn that off in the options menu because it's meant for people who never played a hero shooter before.

Meanwhile battleborn never not looks like that. That's the standard way battleborn looks. It gives you all that shit on screen because that's just the information it has to give you when you're playing a not-MOBA. Almost like the idea of combining the two was a stupid one.

At the same time, when people complain about battleborn HUD, its when they have information you need, you level up, you kill somebody, you have status effects, you can pick a new ability. You have a minimap that is important to see where your team mates are, being able to see if Mercenary points are avaible, if there is Shard on spawn, if enemy have build structures.
If they had the option to edit stuff like your gun model and your hud that would be great.
But Im pretty sure people still would give them a bad time.

I wouldn't recommend it. Its 43 gigs and the game queues take a long time. Along with the the time it takes to choose a map, pick your characters, and then get into the game, it all just takes so long. I like the game, but its not going to last much longer at the rate is going. Grinding for a character takes ages, and queue times only make it take even more time. If you don't care about any of that and want a fun game with decent customization, then go ahead though, its really not that bad. Most of my issues come from there not being enough of a playerbase and the grind.

I played a few matches recently and there's nothing wrong with game. It's fun actually. Sub par. It feels extremely rushed, the "jokes" mostly fall flat, maps are really boring and uninteresting. It also commits a sin that no FPS should do. It forgets you are holding down buttons. If you hold down left mouse to fire then pop an ability the game forgets you are holding down left mouse and will not continue to fire. You have to let go of the button and then reclick.

The worst part? Its got some good things under all the shit. The sword and sheild hero is actually really well designed and would be a really interesting addition to Overwatch. A hero with a personal Rein shield that charges into combat to force fuckers to retreat or die. A hero that forces the other team to stick together and utterly shuts down flankers at the expense of range.

Alright Randy, please give me a valid reason why I should play this over Overwatch or Paladins? Overwatch has objectively better HUD and visuals. Paladins, while not as polished as OW, is free and has a large playerbase. Battleborn's HUD and visuals look like dogshit so there must be something that it does better and I know it's not the writing.

I don't think anyone needs a prolonged mushroom cloud graphic in the corner of their screen every time they kill somebody. Both Paladins and OW flash a kill icon on your crosshairs for a split second and play a sound effect when you kill someone, which is all the feedback you need.

Different anon - Battleborn's HUD isn't as bad as what others make it out to be. The actual visuals and understanding what's going on, though, that's the real problem

Got the game on winter sale so no idea what the f2p version allows and doesn't. Playing any competitive map, I have no idea what the hell is going on:
-certain character abilities changes their model color to some purple sheen or something else, so no idea if they're my ally or some souped up enemy until they start hurting
-I can't tell friendly mob from foe because they wanted to show off more black, shiny greeble bits beneath the armor rather than distinctive colors throughout the entire model
-I can't tell if I'm fighting a friendly champ or an enemy until I see their lifebar pop up after I do a few strikes, while other shooters at least stick this distinctive red aura saying 'this thing needs a killing'
-ability recharge is closer to moba length
-everyone's a huge bullet sponge so on fps side, you'll have to unload at least 2 mags into someone until they drop
-because every mob looks the same, its hard to tell when there's enough mob to safely 'take the tower'
-can't tell if enemies bought turrets or if they're on my team until it starts shooting me

The game is just visually cluttered, and everyone is probably saying 'the HUD makes no sense' as a catchall of saying 'I have no goddamn idea what the hell is going on'

It was pretty okay actually. The "daily quests" need to be given a timer till they refresh because I got 8 daily quests in one day (yesterday) and i've been waiting just under 20 hours now for it to change. Also the amount of platinum should be corralled a bit. I had one give me 40 plat, then another give 3. It's pretty dumb.

The gameplay itself is pretty standard character based shooter stuff, mixed with a MOBA, it's okay, but nothing I would write home about, the gear that persists throughout matches is something i'm not personally a fan of.
