I dunno, I thought it was alright. Then again, as much as I like FF7, I never thought the plot or writing were particularly good. It was just a comfy game to play in general. And the movie was a fun watch. I wasn't expecting a decent story to be told.

It had pretty much exactly what I came for. Fight scenes and fodder for fanfics.

No Final Fantasy game has good writing though, some are just worse than others. Advent Children was just a totally unnecessary sequel, in the same mold as those shitty direct-to-video Disney sequels. It added absolutely nothing new to the story or characters of FF7 and in some areas even contradicted them.
