I bought all the STALKER games and i'm currently 2 hours into the first one. I'm sorry, but I just don't get the appeal yet. How much longer do I need to play before it starts to get good? I really want it to start getting good

I played STALKER and then heard that Fallout 3 is another great apocalyptic First Person game.
Oh boy I was disappointed. SoC for me is basically 10/10 with like 2-3 minor mods, 8.5/10 standalone, next entries get 9/10. Fallout 3 was prised like 10/10 GOTY and for me it feels like 7/10 at best. Gameplay is retarded child of both RPG and FPS genres.

STALKER is far superior.

At least in STALKER being a low level doesn't make your weapons do no fucking damage. In fact, there is no levelling in STALKER, which is great because it's a retarded concept that just means that skill doesn't actually fucking matter in a game that has it. In STALKER, your gun does a certain amount of damage, and that's that. You might be able to upgrade the accuracy or clip size a bit with a few very limited upgrades, but they don't matter that much and you can still reliably beat the game without every finding any upgrades at all. Many people do. It's not like killing a certain amount of enemies randomly suddenly means that your gun does 5 times as much damage or stupid bullshit like that in fallout.

The closest thing STALKER has to levelling is getting better equipment, and you can beat the game with a pistol if you are good enough anyway. Besides, most equipment, at least in COP, is pretty worthwhile and there's usually no clear best option, just preference.

Plus, STALKER has really good music, and a lot of cool little features and stuff.

I despise the first game but love Call of Pripyat.
If you ever play Pripyat play it with Arsenal Overhaul (more guns and fixes) and stay away from the Complete mod series (it's shit).
If you liked CoP I suggest you try out Call of Chernobyl. It's basically all of the maps from the three games added into the CoP engine.

I couldn't find myself enjoying the CoC mod, as there's no real goal to accomplish when playing it except doing really stupid missions for NPC's like "go get me 3 bottles of vodka" or "collect this artifact" and stupid shit like that.

Even the story mode doesn't actually work well enough and doesn't give you any information regarding what sort of protection you need to get through certain areas and stuff. It's literally just like Free-Play in CoP, which I never really enjoyed it.
