Because the advertisement was a debacle and it looked like BROWN BLOOM AND GUTS 2016. I know a lot of people kept shitposting after release when it turned out the game was quite different from the abortion of an attempt to market it.

I can't believe how long the third act of the story is... I still haven't finished because it just keeps going. I even threw it on easy so I could blast through the game faster and it still never ended.

Usually, from big budget games, we get generic but servicable advertisement campaigns that let us know what the games about and shitposting aside, people decide whether they'll like it and buy it.

For Doom they really focused on the wrong aspects. Especially multiplayer which was a big who cares.

Thankfully the devs were great.
