Okay I saw a thread yesterday with the same picture as the starter

Old pc game. 2d sprites. Free roaming shmup like metal slug. Bought ammo from vending machines, had to kill all enemies to finish a level. I remember a level had waterfalls.

So my first rpgmaker had a plot about gods. There was a regular hero mc, you could get a pet (frog?) party member, there were route choices but I don't think it changed much and it was made in japan but translated. By the end you found a library and a book asked you what was the meaning of life. I wonder what the name was
