I started playing through it again a few days ago. To be honest it feels like they intentionally minimized the actual assassin/templar shit, especially exaggerated by how Kenway makes it known again and again that he only wants money and has zero interest in taking sides until the very end. The abstergo sequences might as well have not been added to the game, they were completely pointless.

Assassin's Creed bullshit aside, it is truly the GOAT pirate game.

Its okay. Story is mediocre and there's no piracy aspect in it. You're simply a british line ship, which for me took a bit out of the fun out.
The game feels a bit more copy pasted than other AC titles though. You can feel that its an "inbetween" title. Especially with islands being connected by a whole lot of nothing.

Problem with Rogue is that it only had 1 year of development and recycled a lot from 3 and 4 which means the campaign is very short.

Too bad this game didn't get an extra year of development like Origins.
