Having a spouse isn't all that it's cracked up to be without mods but at least interacting with the kids is nice, makes for a decent parent simulator since you can tell them to do things like play outside and do chores. Plus they occasionally give you stuff that may or may not be useful.

I like playing a swordsman who just wears clothes and uses alteration to protect himself. It used to also have a lot of really cool spells like water walking. Illusion is good if you want to not kill people you don't have to, or for a nightblade.
Restoration is good for not having to fill your inventory with potions.

That is by far the setting that Bethesda is the least likely to fuck up by it watering down. They would ruin Elsweyr and Black Marsh. I don't see them being able to make a place as alien as Morrowind these days.
