The biggest reason is because money was embezzled from Sega and used to make Borderlands 2. Which in itself isn't a bad thing. The problem was that the project was heavily funded by Sega (in the millions), delayed several times, then given to a third party, while the funding Gearbox gave them was peanuts.

He hasn't had any hand in a functional game in about a decade, he's a pandering jackass and takes his obnoxious ball licking to bizarre public extremes on twitter and in person, he's clearly an alcoholic or drug addict and he's just got one of the most grating personalities in the universe. Somehow even knowing all that he still owns a fucking video game company that I can only assume is still solvent for the moment. Really says something about the industry.

Borderlands just wasn't for me, but I held hope Gearbox might be a versatile developer who could create a variety of games for different people. Then the BiA reboot trailer happened, then DNF, then Alien CM and how they fucked over Sega by sending their budget on making Borderlands 2, then Battleborn. Now, this dev, and especially Randy for lying through his teeth with DNF and Alien CM and his business tactics, can fuck right off.
