This. The incentive to milk the most cash out of an MMO has ruined the genre. WoW private severs are better than Deadlords WoW, I hear ArcheRage is better than ArcheAge, and I've never played Ragnarok on the original severs. There's too much monetary incentive to turn a well-balanced, comfy MMO into a P2W panchinko machine that has you compulsively playing a glorified fantasy slot machine milking you for all your worth.

if you didn't play mmos in the platinum age before wow destroyed the genre i actually feel sorry for you and hope you are somehow born again in a different timeline and get to play them.

wow&co represent just fancy lobbies for instanced dungeons coupled to a singleplayer rpg in the leveling phase.
