Consoles typically take the loss at first. The 360 and PS3 did this and it allowed them to live as long as they did. They make back the losses with subscriptions, controller and headset sales, licenses etc. And in a few years when the parts are cheaper, its not as big a deal and they drop the price. The xb1s mistake was forcing the kinect. It actually did well on the 360, 1/3 owners had one about. But they should have saw that the time for gimmicks for casuals was ending. I dont think any console should be more than $500 at launch, and it has to be really premium for that.
