Character customization is kind of limited.

Yeah it's pretty shit on a lot of characters. Nina's options for example are pretty damn shit.

That's because this version is worse than T6 and TTT2's.

There are far less options and items in this game to grind for and even less reason to do said-grinding unless you plan on playing online.

Tag 2 on WiiU has the best customisation of them all. You can even go into a paint mode with the stylus and manually paint shit in areas you want.

Tekken 7 even has less characters than it, as well as no ball mode or any of that fun stuff.

I really don't get why 7 even exists. They could've spent 1/20th of the time and just ported tag 2 to PS4 and PC instead.

Because TTT2 isn't seen by pros as an actual Tekken game. Despite what a lot of people online might say, large parts of the competitive community hated the mechanics of Tag 2 (like tag crashing, rage, wall raging, etc.) On top of that, knowing everything about not just playing but fighting any two given characters made it difficult to keep up with. People just wanted standard Tekken again, and that's what we got.
