Sidequests outside of job boards have consequences ranging from unlocking the true good ending where Wardens Keep, Amaranthine, and all of your companions live, to accidentally creating an order of knights that lasts for a 1000 years in the epilogue based on a single interaction early in the game. (This is one of many tiny sidequest details in Awakenings epilogue)

The game has no stakes to it because it's the last piece of content you play(apart from maybe the shitty DLC). The story is done, finished. Nothing you do in Awakening feels like it really matters and most stuff just feels trivial. Even if the content there is actually really good and enjoyable. It just doesn't have the same sort of impact as the main game has is what I'm saying. The Wardens Keep might not be the best content but the things you do in it at least has some impact on your journey in DA:O. Even if it is just some EXP, a shitty skill tree and some new equipment.

Expansions in RPG's works better when they expand the base game I think, not just add a short extra side module to play at the end, since RPG's thrives on the long arduous journey and slowly building your character. When there isn't as much point in building your character since the game will end so fast anyways. it just isn't as fun.
