Don't fight anything you've never fought before without using Analyze first. You have to use a bit of common sense until you get the spell, though.
Blunt vs skeletons and the Golem
Edged vs unarmoured zombies
Piercing vs anything armoured
Then you can use elements to boost your damage a bit further, but it's not required as long as you're not using something that the enemy has high resistance to.

Callo's greatest problem is that she's a walking plot device for looking into souls of other characters.
Should've been a second controllable character with a knack for ranged combat and scanning enemy.

Aside from the stupid hair and Ashleys buttocks the game sure does hold up in the aesthetics.

The moment when Ashley carries him out of Lea Monde on his shoulders and later oversees that he can finish his goal was superb.

Attacking the head lowers INT, the arms STR and the legs movement speed. Though it really doesn't do much most of the time, or when it could be useful are these parts rather hard to hit.

You can cripple an enemies legs to cut their move speed, but rest of the limb penalties seem to be unimplemented for everything other than the player.
Also, different body parts have different resistances, hit chance and defense. Dragons take a lot of damage to the head and neck with the right weapon setup, but both head and neck are harder to hit than the body, for example.

TO ALL THE PEOPLE COMPLAINING ABOUT ONLY DOING 0 DAMAGE:

>Make sure your DP(repair at every workshop) and PP(gained from a certain chain attack) are high
>Keep 1 edged, 1 blunt and 1 piercing weapon available at all times
>Analyze the enemies, find their weaknesses
>Use buffs(prostasia, elemental buffs etc), and debuff enemies(tarnish, degenerate)
>set your gems to the right affinities/elements

If all else fails, go balls to the wall with the heavy blow/crimson pain chain, or use the gain phantom/release phantom(can't remember the names) to cheese any boss in the game.

Enemies that resist chains can be a pain in the ass but you have Mana Roots/Bulbs for that.
