Curious, not excited. I have not been excited since Assassin's Creed III. That game gave me insane amounts of hype and it was just a big letdown. I have not been in the same terms with these games ever since. Hopefully the new setting might rekindle the flame, but I don't have much expectations anymore.

Haven't played an AC game since 2, but I'm a huge sucker for ancient world settings.

This is what the series has needed for awhile. All the guns and tech got out of fucking control, especially in Syndicate. The combat being reworked is nice too, expected it but hopefully its actually good and not "we tried".

The biggest thing they needed ontop of combat, was mission design. Follow/trail missions for exposition dumps need to go.

I enjoyed every AC up to 4 (even 3), but then everything just became too familiar. Couldn't enjoy rogue, unity or syndicate and I probably wont even give a new a try unless it's somehow ridiculously praised

Mostly because of what you can glimpse of his facial features in the leaked shirt and in the GI cover, especially the nose. Also the fact that he's said to be part of the Medjay, but they specified that it was no longer an only-Nubian organization, but rather one that expanded to Egyptian members, too (like Bayek).

Still, it wouldn't be surprising or out of place if he is (especially with the Medjay background, he could be an Egyptian of Nubian descent keeping the traditions).

My idea:

1. Bring back Intimidation from AC1
- If you kill enough enemies (or fast enough) or kill a leader the rest will get demoralized and either fight worse or just run away.

2. Hits should really hurt. Assassins should be glass cannons. If you hit them once or twice they should be dead.
But if they hit you you should be penalized (fall to the ground, get stunned, death at two or more consecutive hits)

3. To make this not as frustrating they should implement a "reflex" system that slows the combat down to give you time to react.
This would be a limited resource that would only refill on perfect counters (when not using the slow down).

4. Running away and striking from the shadows should always be the priority. Fighting huge groups of enemies in the open should be almost impossible. Incentivize making smart decisions. Punish mistakes accordingly, but give chances to escape.

5. More enemy variety. Have 4-5 different groups of guards. Then split them into different ranks. And give every guard 2-3 random traits.
Those traits would be something like : Easily scared, steadfast, sprinter, easily provoked , etc.)
This would make every encounter play out a little bit different and would give the impression that you are fighting actual people instead of an
guard archetype.

Which is a pity because AC1's cities were the best to explore, precisely because the narrow streets and mostly homogenous buildings made roaming more fun.
The streets were too wide in subsequent games, which meant you were either going out of your way (I'm okay with) or just jumping down to ground level (I'm not okay with) because it was quicker.
That and buildings were taller, meaning to climb back up was more laborious.
Overall shorter buildings with more variety in height (but all reasonably close together) like in AC1 leads to more fun in my opinion.
