Stop being such a fucking pussy anon, spiders literally will not harm or attack you unless you provoke them, holy fuck /v/ is full of fags. Dora the Explorer on the DS is more suitable for you.

But this spider will impale you and keep you for food later. I can't deal with that. Also the first boss on RE4 gives me a similar feel.

You know with Dark Messiah I can understand why spiderphobes would outright stop playing-- there are lots of spiders, they're in their own dimly lit caves, and they poison you. The effect is very disorienting and can panic new players. They're fucking easy though, you can just run past them.

Are there actually any games that have terrifying spiders?

Only thing I can think is close is the poisonous headcarbs, finding one of these unexpectedly behind a box that jumps at you and leaves you with a single bit of health was terrifying.

Most spiders in games are just shitty weaklings that do mediocre poison damage or damage at all.

Such shitty match ups
The way spiders attack will always leave them vulnerable to a counter from a scorpion
Best case scenario, the tarantula gets a good bite in and kills the scorpion if it somehow manages to pierce the hard exoskeleton but, the scorpion still stings it somewhere in its thorax and the tarantula gets a nice big dose of venom by its important organs

Hmm

That certainly adds some points, but not enough to rescue her from the overall lack of creativity behind her design. The tail is slapped on; a shoehorned attempt to add non human features to a human girl. It did not grow from her, or at least it does not appear that way. it might as well have been sown on. Its presence is not seamless nor does it flow with the overall appearance of the character. It is an abrupt intrusion, telling of either a lack of ingenuity or a certain strain of xenophobia, stifling the creator's hand into making something mundane and tacking on exotic feature in hopes it would mesh. it does not.

tl:dr: you're waifu a shit and is generic and boring

I sincerely do not understand why people project personalities on some pets.
On dogs, cats and even rats I get it. They have distinguishable personalities and traits that may appear human in nature. Hell, even birds have a 'personality' based on their discovery index.

But spiders and other arthropods just baffles me.

They're certainly not dog or cat level, what with only 600000 or so neurons, but they do indeed have some minimal level of cognition

I find it fascinating how my tarantula behaves differently than other specimens of her same species. She displays her own quirks and preferences. Don't read me wrong here, she's no Coco the Gorilla, but there is still more in there than what we previously thought.

I don;t know about other arthropods, but I know that at least spiders can be (relatively) smart. Perhaps less so with mygalomorphs than araneomorphs, but still, I've interacted enough, at least with my girl, to tell she's got some sort of little spark in there.
>>
>>379696613

I was just going for the general tone in this thread. Mainly talking to the guy who owns it.
I don't mean to offend, but I'm just genuinely curious as to why people do that.

Are there any species of tarantula that are actually aggressive?

>>
>>379696819

So basically, quirks that most others of her species don't have? I can see how you could classify that as a personality desu. Might actually do a research into that if I cannot come up with a different topic for my thesis.

Thanks for the clarification anon.

Yep.

Different specimens of different species will display different personalities.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6Pt1sjYnEqw&t=105s
Most specimens of vid related (Pteronochilus murinus) are extrememly defensive, and will rear up upon the slightest provocation. This one obviously does not, and tolerates her masters hands.

My little Felicia displays her own little quirks. She's incredibly lazy, not bothering to actually burrow as most of her species (Aphonopelma semanni). The pic where you see her burrow closed off was another one of her half ass jobs - most other tarantulas completely seal it up. She also likes to dig little divots in each corner of her enclosure, no more than an inch or two deep before she snuggles in it for the night to settle back into her burrow the next day

So yeah you're welcome, Good luck on that thesis, bruv.
>>
>>379697281
Froggo will be okay. In fact, froggo is much more likely to be okay with spider girlfriend than anywhere else.

Predators who would eat froggo don;t want urticating hairs in their face, nor do they want the ten-inch spider who carries them to come out and sink nearly 1 inch fangs into them
>>
>>379697135
Tarantula's not that I know of, but there are aggressive large spiders that are deadly poisonous. Brazilian wandering spiders encountered at night come to mind.

I recall a documentary that I can not find footage of on youtube of a biologist film maker who is basically the Steve Irwin of the bug world, running around picking deadly shit up for the camera, simply noping on it when the encountered one at night on a tree. "You couldn't pay me enough to grab that right now."

Most New World (Americas) species are either docile ro skittish

Old World (Africa, Asia, Europe) species are very defensive.

No tarantula is genuinely "Aggressive" save for perhaps some African species.

Froggo is fine. It's that spider's pet. No, I'm not making that up.

Doesn't seem entirely out of the question, really. Fucking ants do effectively the same thing with aphids, and the spider pointedly not killing the frog so it can hang out and kill shit that wants to eat its young is far simpler than literal aphid farming.

Sharks kind of do the same thing with small fish in coral reefs.

They just sort of swim around in a circle near where they hang out until they come out and start eating the parasites off of them.
