Monks are really fucking broken for a number of reasons.

Paladins were already disgustingly defensive, but overall balanced by the fact that their damage was pretty shit. Then comes Royal Guard and now they have multiple skills that can one-hit KO players, all which can be used without having to give up your defensive capabilities. Royal Guards are the most broken 3rd class.

Meanwhile, Rune Knights don't get considerably stronger. Their purpose for the rest of the game is to use Dragon Breath on stuff. Knights were supposed to be more offensive oriented than crusaders, at the cost of defense. Instead what happens is that Royal Guards are stronger than RKs, while still being more defensive.

Renewal and 3rd classes is a bunch of really good ideas, mixed in with a handful of really awful ones.

I enjoyed renewal more than classic and pre.

The way they balanced stuff beyond level 99 was that the number of monsters you needed to kill to go up one level exploded. The reason for this was simple: bots only fight one target at a time, they level up by killing stuff one at a time, so if you need to kill thousands of monsters per levels, you can curb bots considerably. Even in bot-infested iRO Valkyrie, you never see bots above level 112 or so, they get banned before that.

The worst changes for me were dividing attack into 4 portions, making defense non-linear, and bloating up damage to retarded levels. It turned the game into a one-shot fest for PvP.

1. It had a lot of character. Characters were cute and cool looking, there were lots of imaginative monsters and the whole game had this really fun, fantastical atmosphere unlike any other game, which was accentuated by the music.
2. The job system created an insane amount of character variety and they made the character progression fun throughout, despite the grindy nature of the game. You grow with your character and as soon as you reach your second class, all you need are job levels to be useful in just about all the content the game has to offer, max level was an actual accomplishment (for a time anyway) instead of a hard requirement. Since WoW, MMOs funnel you through questlines until you're finally maxed, and the game finally begins.
3. Gearing up was more about amassing resources rather than fighting with your guildmates for loot in some raid. Most useful slotted items and cards dropped from weak monsters which most people could farm from regardless of rarity, thus creating a healthy economy.
4. The best GvG system of all time, where instead of a perpetual arena where people fight for whatever, you actually have a reason to attack/defend castles, with all the treasure and guild dungeons. Your guild's achievements were acknowledged server wide, too, and your beautiful emblem would be all over town for a week.

Acid Bomb/Demonstration would have been balanced if the items that you needed to craft each bottle weren't so easy to gather just by AFKing with a Homunculus, or weren't so low-level that you couldn't just bot for them.

But that's not how it works and that's my point. At 50 DEF you take 50% damage. Add a point for 51 DEF and now you take 49% damage: You take 2% less damage than before.
At extreme DEF values it gets really absurd. Imagine you have 90 DEF and you go up to 91: Instead of taking 10% damage you now take 9%, a 10% damage reduction from just one point of DEF!
That's why the "wow formula" for DEF is superior, because it keeps your effective health growth linear instead of exponential.

Yes, but even then you'd still take damage from other sources. Reaching THAT much DEF means you need to sacrifice every single equipment and card slot, so you couldn't get ultra DEF while having proper reduction for other stuff.

This sort of stuff is the reason why the game was so great. Even with ubber-equipment, you still aren't safe. You need to swap situationally, and there is no such thing as best-in-slot equipment for most things.

It's true. I was playing Priest in classic with something like 40/55 def/mdef and I could auto Wizards to death in PvP because they literally did no damage. Didn't need elemental armor or anti-freeze either because being frozen actually boosts your MDEF so they do even less damage. Magic was only good when you stack a bunch of them in GvG or against people without shields.

3rd classes, Kagerou/Oboro are gender differentiated Ninja higher glasses, Rebels are advanced gunslingers. Plenty of new instance quests that introduce the characters from the original manwa. There's a new continent with cat-people which is an alternative starting point for new characters. You can make a furry-race character, and they have their own class system.

The game has changed a lot, doesn't really resemble vanilla at all. For instance, iRO Valkyrie is 90% about doing daily missions for EXP and rewards. It's 100x better than other MMOs because you actually need to party for those, but it's still just daily chores.

ToS' golden times are over. They literally patched out guild wars because the koreans said they hated it, causing maybe 1/3 of the international population to quit immediately after the patch.

They also somehow made Level Up Games!, the worst publisher in the world, give up on publishing the game on Brazil because they were failing too hard too fast. They're THAT incompetent.

The GvG mode did not work correctly for a single week, during the 9 months in which it was live. It gave hundreds of USDs worth of cash shop currency to the same guilds every week, regardless of who won or lost matches, or even if matches were played at all.

I loved the game, but if you weren't there for the betas then you missed out. It's already a dead game.

If you need more reasons to NOT play, here's another: they removed all the hats and costumes from the cash shop, which could be bought directly, and instead put them all into gacha boxes. Also, they're developing a mobile version, so they can further turn the game into a slot machine.

If you know that there is a sinX prowling around you, there is plenty that you can do, but it's still very much hopeless if you're alone. There's nothing you can do in Ragnarok Online to prevent Stealthed people from moving past you, or if you don't know when they're coming.

Maya Purple Card lets you see invisible stuff. You see stealthed targets as a black shadow figure. Surprisingly, it even lets you see invisible NPCs.

You cannot target them like this, you need to use an AoE skill first to make them come out, but you effectively see them at all times, including their name and affiliations.

There are maybe 30 or so essential cards that most people that play a lot need to know. If you're a gigantic autist like me, who has played for 26 thousand hours, you'd not only know every card, but every monster, where they spawn, every skills, and even cite skill formulas from memory.

An AD set weights 2, and carry capacity in this game goes over 8000 for a merchant class like Creators.

Creators are sturdy, and the stun lock doesn't let people fight back. It fucking breaks everything on contact at a high chance, too.

That said, a really fun thing you can do is use a setup that makes AD do 0 damage. If you don't put any points on VIT, don't wear any VIT equipment, and use a -VIT card, you can get the stat to be 0 and cause the skill to do 0 damage, which shows as a miss. People never know how to react to that.

I managed to get mine play as one, the catch is I have to level her dancer up most of the time because she's not really interested in theme park MMORPG initially and would rather play a dance MMO with overpriced cosmetic items. It was fun we do play together though, just going around and playing ensembles songs even though it's fucking useless for practical use, people just like to hear it because nobody playing bard/dancer seriously takes those skills.
