As someone who's played from the beginning, nothing before it or since beats Torterra. Looks amazing, makes a good transport if not the comfiest of all Pokemon, and when you think about its moves, its fighting style would be pretty sick; launching leech seeds and seed bombs from its tree, ramming targets sideways to gore them on its "mountains" for many physical attacks, and perhaps momentarily uprooting its own tree, using vines that come from under the shell, for its Wood Hammers.

Honest statement, I feel like people who find Digimon better-designed than Pokemon must have some kind of brain disorder. I mean there's some cool ones, I think Wargreymon and whatever this is >>379672826 are neato in their own right, but so many are these ugly, overdesigned shits with balloony feet and hands, or humans in tacky outfits. The one thing that saves them is that they're digital life forms and therefore literally any design makes sense. But just look at this fucking thing >>379673857. I don't get the impression that the designer even knows what they're going for.

I understand not all Pokemon are well-designed. But on average, their designs are much cleaner, more robust, and more memorable than Digimons'. And when they wanna get detailed, with things such as Groudon and Haxorus and most of the Ultra Beasts, they do so without losing that unique mojo.

It's so fucking weird that they didn't retcon the Gen 3 gender distribution when they introduced Gallade. He's 100% male and clearly meant to be the "male" version of Ralts yet they made his evolution requirements to involve holding a stone instead of just splitting the evolution by gender which was clearly the intention design wise.

It wouldn't have been unheard of either, they've done weird things with gender before. Azuril literally has a 33% of turning into a male if it's female and evolves into Marill. They literally made a transgender Pokemon to avoid an inconsistency in the gender distributions of the three evolution stages. They could've easily given Raltz the same treatment but didn't even though it's much more needed.
