I don't see the appeal of this whatsoever. It just seems like the more they show the game, the more we can see it's just a bunch of bad decisions thrown together. They even revealed Johnny Gat as a preorder bonus and recycle their GAT IS BACK shit from SRIV. I dunno, it just seems like a team that absolutely lacks self-awareness and are utterly convinced their game/brand is bigger than it actually is.

I hated SR3 because it was a piece of shit, the drastic shift in tone was just one of its issues which was, unfortunately, never rectified in 4 or GooH.

SR2 had a good balance of craziness/zaniness with believable characters. SR3 pushed the throttle too much towards craziness that the characters and even mechanics suffered for it. SRIV tried to dial it back and have believable characters again, but the mechanics and premise/theme ended up being the craziest of them all. And now, Agents of Mayhem doesn't seem to want to dial back anything either.

There's a point where the craziness stops being enjoyable and starts becoming cringey instead.

This. SR2 had that perfect balance where the game managed to pull off both serious and silly moments, but the sequels went so goofy that now it's just the latter. And when you make everything over the top style, it gets old really fast.

The worst part about this is the devs themselves think this is the greatest shit ever and laugh at the mediocre writing they have laid out for this game.

The way they introduce each character looks like they hired a flash animator from youtube to do the introduction videos, and the gameplay itself just looks like a boring grindfest with unfun superpowers to use.

If they really wanted to get the whackiness and superpowers from Saints Row 4 into a new IP, they should just create a full on super hero game with customizable outfits/costume/powers and full building destruction like the tech they used for Red Faction: Guerilla. At this rate, Crackdown 3 is going to blow this the fuck out.

If they just had a character creator and as much customization as SR games usually have, I'd probably buy this shit day one. But with what I've seen so far I won't even bother getting it used for $5 in ten years.

You have to understand, I am almost thirty. I have had 20 year old kids ask "what is Terminator?" so the odds anyone cares about the A-Team in the 15 and under market is highly unlikely.
