He may have been memeing and didn't even realize that the Persona games were inspired by Lynch's style. The older ones a little more but they follow the idea of something being Lynchian that David Foster Wallace originally laid out. The idea is the dark and morbid in direct contrast in something that entirely traditional or wholesome. Persona games fit that to a T. You have happy go lucky optimistic students fighting lovecraft entities, Hitler, murders, demons, etc. with themes of friendship being laid on top of themes like Truth or "The End".
