Wait and see on the combat system, though Hitbox driven and lock on do not mix.
Assassin's and Templars being behind everything again is not so interesting. I'm neutral on the setting.
Adrenaline and removing one hit parry with the hidden blade, plus the 3 paths probably mean those things are unlockable. Also, it sounds like they are taking cues from Bamham. Which I don't mind, except that its not that fast a combat system. Plus making enemies tankier is not a good mechanic.

Because I find the way Connor ultimately fucks up to be interesting. As a whole, I enjoy Connor's character.
Haytham is a pretty good character, obviously.

You and I are on the same page there.

Regarding AC3, I found Haytham to be a great character too but the homestead, while comfy, was pointless, buggy and a mess. The pacing of the main plot is also all over the place with too many 'animus cuts' that jumped around, causing a lot of loss of flow for me. Connor was a protag that I thought I enjoyed because he seemed endearing at first but the more I think about his actions, the more I find them nonsensical. In the end, he just comes off as a massive idiot who contradicted his own motives but without any particularly good reason to do so either.

That said, from what the article says about Bayek, it seems they're going back to a protag that's intense and endearing like Connor again instead of another charming rogue like Ezio, Edward and Arno (who came off as more of a whiny dick than charming rogue anyway).

I find that his actions being nonsensical is actually what makes him interesting. When he finally kills Charles Lee, its so obviously a waste of time that the writing really shines in a way. Its also a shame that the final monologue was cut, because that's when he finally starts moving forward. For the first time in his life.

All in all, I believe Connor is decently written, but in a way that goes perhaps a little too far. He is static for good reasons, but the overall plot does not follow along very well.

Admittedly, it suffers from poor pacing. Some of the naval missions should have been included in the main storyline rather than being a separate thing, and he does take a while to grow up even when we don't see it.

I'm cautious about this one, but if they go back to a character more in line with Connor or Altair, I'm all for it.

I want a fucking game that shows pyramids for what they really are...ancient power generators created by the annunaki.

I can get behind this and appreciate it if he hadn't found out who was really behind his village's massacre a few missions before he finally catches up to Charles Lee. I find it utterly stupid that he goes after Charles Lee so intensely but doesn't even lift a finger against Washington at all, not before or after he murders Charles. Why was he even still after Charles when he's found out that the guy wasn't responsible for his tribe's massacre and the man's team was even trying to broker a peaceful existence between the natives and colonists? They even go so far as to remove his epilogue speech so you don't even know that he reflects on his actions and knows how he fucked up.

In the end, I feel like there's a good character in there somewhere with some decent writing but they lost track of it when they introduced the twist and everything falls apart afterwards. It's a damned shame too because I liked how brash Connor was in some parts of the game.

Combat steps back from what Unity did and tries to retool it into how it was in AC2 till Rogue but with worse animations, the world has less attention to detail than Unity did, coaches are almost impossible to be driven without hitting everything in sight which really kills attempts to play the game with subtlety, plot has almost no consequence or significance until you reach the epilogue, boss fights have the most laughable QTE sequences I've ever seen or played, less exploration and way too many uninspired side content.

I did like how they expanded the assassination missions from Unity and included more options in those missions. Unfortunately, they were few and far in between.
