It's not a good game. Even Pokken DX has much less content than all its competitors in the same genre. The original game should have had what DX has. Even then it wouldn't have been good, but it wouldn't have been as terrible.

Off the top of my head, these are some things Pokken doesn't have that other fighter's being released right now or earlier have.

I've brought this up before and people always give me shit for caring about the offline content in a fighting game. Fuck off. You gave Battlefront and Titanfall shit for it. Mortal Kombat has a story mode, Injustice has a Story Mode, Blazblue has a story mode, all with voiced cutscenes and interesting art and funny side stories for the whole cast. This wouldn't be so much of an issue if not for the next thing. Remember the fucking Weapon Master mode in Soul Calibur 2? The ultimate Ninja Storm games and Dragonball Xenoverse can be enjoyed as fully offline games.

DX helps this a bit with 3v3. All the stages are the same, no destructible environments, no tag team, no survival, no "Unlimited" or "Super" modes.
