I liked Chronicles, but I liked X more. Almost purely from a thematic standpoint, but also because of the improved gameplay.

Yeah, but it's not something you do early on. Getting 3k tp back before time runs out isn't something that happens with any old setup, especially when most people played it and didn't know beforehand how the overdrive system worked or even that you could overdrive during overdrive. I know from experience that you can do it as soon as it unlocks if you're using a shield/gatling gun, but even then you have to time the necessary arts carefully. And who used those as their first weapons when the game makes you take a character who already does that?

I get that RPGs like to buff their AI enemies because an AI can only do so much but in Xenoblade not only do you have the AI to worry about, you have the enviorment because if you fuck up and battle something in a certain area during a certain time of day you'll be destroyed by the new named enemy that just spawned their because it's nightime now, or worse, a patrolling enemy wanders into the battle and joins in. At least make the game's world clock stop while you're in battle.

In Chronicles X is it possible to fight those big ass monsters on foot or do you absolutely have to do it in a mech?
