Never even knew that was a thing and I feel this weird sense of discomfort now that I do. Anthony is friends with a writer who worked on several THQ games, though I'm not sure if that includes Saints Row. Guess I shouldn't be surprised either way.

Also, even though nothing will ever beat Oblivion's hose armour, I nominate Evolve's overpriced recoloured weapons and Payday 2's DLC model going absolutely off the rails as the years went by.

Wouldn't be the worst, but Tale of the Dragon for Age of Mythology's Extended Edition is worth a mention.

The initially release fucked with game balance, was a buggy mess, and screwed the netcode so badly that the active part of the community went off to play the original on Voobly instead. While they tried fixing some of it, the devs have effectively put their attention to AoE II HD and haven't done shit to AoM EE for the past year.

THQ folding probably meant that the new guys bankrolling their games forced them to make some pretty shitty creative compromises in order to squeeze a few more bucks out of their projects. It's not a coincidence that Volition started to dip in quality after Saints Row IV was released, which was only a year after THQ shut down and they were forced into new management.

There was some dipping in quality during Saints Row 4 also. Most of the activities etc. just plain sucked ass when compared to SR2 and 3. The radio (107.77 The Mix) in particular was also fucking offensive.
