Peri stuff is just an anime troupe like most others. The dumb part was mostly making the characters be living archetypes even more than Awakening. It makes sense to put a violent person in the army, it doesn't make sense to put people like Sakura to defend crucial spots or people like the children units that are mostly children mentally.

Loyalty is a thing and that's how they knew their father. Considering they are child soldiers that isn't surprising. The fucked up part was Xander himself not doing anything about it in 2 out of 3 routes when he is the one that actually knew their father before going insane and the person that should have noticed something weird.

Can't argue with that. No problem with them joking a bit once in a while or having some sort of quirks. Echoes did that right for example, in Fates they are walking jokes

Well, other options were:
a) Shouting to them to stop (Corrin was already ignored)
b) Jump in the middle of the battle or try to stop them manually (the thing that killed Elise and regardless of who beats down Corrin, the situation only worsens)
c) Give up on trying to stop them. Like a pussy.
