4 is a known troublemaker when it comes to emulation. I think 5 and 0 are fine.
Digging out your PS2 is probably the safest bet, at least for 4.

There's Assault Horizon for PS3/360/PC which gets a ton of shit and is basically treated as the Devil May Cry 2 of the series. I think there's some good ideas in there, but it doesn't compare to 4/5/0.

There's also the free-to-play Infinity, which is a PS3 exclusive that's 90% multiplayer focused. No idea if it's still alive. There's an 8 mission single player campaign that ends on a big fat to be continued. I put money into it and the only reason I feel good about it is the idea that some of it went to the development of 7.

6 is worth playing, go on CL an buy a 360 for 50 dollars and AC6 for 15, totally worth it. 360 shit is cheap AF at the moment. I got my AC6 Flight stick set for 10 bucks at goodwill.

I'd say emulate because honestly these games are a prime example of something aging like wine. However, they require a lot of tweaking which there is a guide out of there to help you. If you can't then just pull out your PS2 and try to find them. I found Zero and 5 dirt cheap on ebay one day. There is AC Infinity on the PS3 but that is F2P it is still fun and the story is good imo. You won't appreciate it much if you don't play the previous games tho.

Almost all of these games are worth playing.
2/AHL, 3 (now that it's patched), 4, 5, 0, 6 and X are all fantastic games.
You can play any of them in almost any order and not really miss anything, although 5 should be played before 0.

Reveal trailer was at PSX 2015, that is, 18 months ago. I wonder what the total development time will end up being. Infinity came out May 2014, but iirc it was in beta forever.

I can't put into words how much I love the writing on these games.

I still play through AC5 at least a few times per year, and I never even skip a single cutscene. I can recite them from memory at this point.

Only Sony was pushing the VR shilling because of their console. Microsoft and Steam wouldn't have pushed this requirement on Namco. This is on Sony's hands for DUDE LMAO VR meme bullshit. The real reason is somewhere in between, they're probably contractually obligated to release the VR mode and it needs to maintain double 60FPS for both eyes, so besides scaling the single player to accommodate for the plain PS4 they gotta use the extra juice for PS4 Pro's VR mode.

It all comes back to Sony and their fucking VR obsession.

Mayhem's rank is time based. Kill things faster (while saving ammo for Schnee) to get S rank. That being said, if you can afford the Su-37 and its SP weapons, you have enough cash to buy everything useful - anything you didn't start with, you can sell back to the shop for a full refund.
