Extremely good adaptation an already popular work of a different medium that pretty much turns it around and puts an entirely new, but very good spin on it?
I honestly can't think of anything. In cinema, this happens quite often (Blade Runner, Children of Man, Stalker etc...) but in games, I really can't think of anything.
