Out of all the forms of entertainment video games have the widest range, you can release a literal movie or book, add some interaction and that would be called a game. Everything from mobile shit to jrpgs or shooters are counted as games, its kind of pointless to group it as one thing.

Games where you can "turn off your brain" are down there with network TV and top 40 radio as low forms of entertainment. But games that engage you and really make your brain matter go pitter patter are up there with easy reading and quality TV for entertainment quality.
