How do I get into civ and games like it? What game do i start with?

the newest civilization or the newest galactic civilizations are a good place to start. Depending on what setting you love more.

Civ 5 complete when it's on sale for 12$ (which is like every 2-3 months).

6 is way different mechanically. And it's very anti-expansive, unless you pull all your resources and perks into producing settlers, which makes your cities crap and incapable of fighting off even shitty barbarians.

5 with expansions is definitely the best of standard civs. 6 is pretty good too, but it feels almost nothing like previous parts.
