How can a f2p non p2w game single handedly destroy Diablo 3?

diablo 3 destroyed itself. how does a 30 mil selling vidya end up scrapping a planned expansion into a extra class dlc?

diablo 3 was a horrible game. path of exile is also a horrible game, taking horadric cube from d2 and making the ultimate skinner box extravaganza simulator. grim dawn would be pretty good if it didn't look like ass, it has the best classes ever devised for this shitty genre.

Nobody outside some autists who usually come onto D3 vids just to post how much "better" POE is play Path Of Life Nodes/ES Nodes. Nobody else is hyped for Fall Of Reused Assets with it's bosses that are boring versions of the kind of multi mechanic bosses of D3. Nobody else enjoys a game where the actually playing the game part is just spamming one move over and over again instead of more interesting skill management.

Acts 1 and 2 are some of the most boring generic shit I've ever played.

Fucking garbage ass enemy variety and level design. Literally felt like I'm playing a mod.

Act 3 is where it actually picks up but by then I'm usually bored. Fucking garbage.

Act 5 looks good but I'm 100% sure acts 6-10 are just going to be shit retreads.

Don't forget that Hearthstone killed all CCG video games that came after. The only thing Blizz hasn't been able to put the largest dent on is MOBA, and even then HOTS has recently been growing quite a bit as well.
