I liked GitS, I finally got around to watching it this year or last year and found it to be really interesting.

Anime was a little hard to watch. Was really slow and dragged on a lot without much dialogue. Couldn't really care much about any of the characters other than the guy who came from above ground to fuck shit up just to see some human emotions flow freely. Really interesting concept though and the ending had me thinking a lot about the end goal of technological advancement and scientific discovery, how it could inevitably lead to total nihilism as there is no reason for people to attempt to achieve anything once all things have been discovered or created that could benefit people. Scary prospects.

Most of it is entry level. the infinity series is way better than the ZE series. r07's writing is super repetitive and full of plot holes; umineko chiru killed any credibility he had. the last 3 are ok. I'm a fan of saya myself but it's not super deep.

Ergo Proxy starts out alright but it devolves into bullshit quite quickly and then the ending is just pretentious horribly written shit

Monster is also another one that starts out interestingly but by the time I watched 10 eps or so I was already asking myself how the fuck were they gonna stretch out for another 60+ of them, then the plot also goes completely fucking stupid with an unbelievable villain with characters doing a bunch of dumb shit on an almost constant basis culminating into a few end episodes that go full retard, I mean sure some eps were good like the 5 teaspoons of sugar or something assassin guy but on the whole if felt like a massive waste of time that I wouldn't recommend to anybody

Also started watching Technowhateverbabble for 2-3 episodes and I'm not sure if I'll finish it, I don't have a clue where it's going but I can hazard a very good guess that I'll not say "well this certainly wasn't a waste of time" if I finish it

Are these shows all like that? I wanted to watch Evangelion and Ghost in a Shell at some point but now I'm not sure that would be worth the time

I could safely recommend Ghost in the Shell. Solid movie with great art and animation and it doesn't try to be too preachy like most sci fi anime.

Evangelion is hard to recommend. Ending is a bit of a mindfuck and is very preachy which throws a lot of people off. The movie is absolutely fantastic though. Once again great art and animation. Personally my favourite series, but definitely not for everyone.
