So I'm still not sure what I'm looking at from this video. Since there are buildings to scavenge it looks like you're in a big map but is it a kinda open world game or do you always start in the same place with the same buildings to loot?
If wood forts aren't great defense is there something stopping you from overtaking an abandoned factory or something for more defense on the first wave or two?
And how long is a game supposed to take? It looks like you have some downtime to build and stuff during the day but big waves come at night. Is each match supposed to take hours and hours to play through?

Maps are proc gen. There's various "mission types to complete each time you instance a new mission. They all are mostly some form of "find this thing and protect it" but the different size/shape/functional requirements of the objectives force you to build in unique ways for each task at hand. Building is one of the major gameplay elements, pretty much any object is destructible and drops "materials." The materials can be used to build walls and shit (the snap-together building system is actually very simple, smooth and offers the ability to build many unique structures. Each wall has it's own "grid" that lets you chuck it out or transform it to different shapes). So you build a fort around the thing you want to protect and then it turns into a sort of Orcs Must Die in an open environement. Weapons and traps are crafted from learned blueprints, which you get from drops in game or crates (which are freely opened rewards so far). You can build your fort out of preexisting buildings but it depends on the objective you have to protect. Average early game rounds are like 10-30 minutes.

Some gamemodes have a hardcap on how long they take (Usually 20 minutes). A match can take as long as you want, the faster you do it the better bonus exp you get.

If there's no collapsing style physics for tall buildings (I didn't see any in the trailer besides knocking down horizontal walls or Windows on the same level as the player) doesn't this mean you could build a tall as fuck sniper tower and then just have the enemies comes up in a straight line, or maybe a very windy staircase laced with traps and basically win the game due to the small amount of room for the enemy npcs to use? I feel like this game looks awesome but there's too much potential to ruin it for yourself by getting to crafty with the building structures.
Though I may be wrong and maybe the npcs can attack bases of towers?
