Is this the worst puzzle in video game history?
what is it
I found the Shakespeare puzzle in Silent Hill 3 much worse.
The worst puzzle ever imo is Elemental Workshop III in Runescape though.
>>379525174
Connect wires in the correct plugs to restore power to a building/elevator in Silent hill homecoming, I believe. Might have been downpour, but I doubt it.
>>379526117
what is so bad about it?
>>379526624
The rundown is that when you flip the switch on the left the red lights will turn green from bottom up depending on what wires have been plugged in correctly, as I recall. However, they only turn on based on how many are correct. This confused many players at first who thought they got the few correct, changed the rest, and found the lights went down. Just a bit of trial and error, but nothing terrible.
Wait a minute that puzzle...
>>379526664
I assume this is layton, but whats so bad about it.
>>379527893
The puzzle: tap the eye of the monster
>>379526887
You get a clue in a note which says something and then XXI (dunno about exact characters) but that's supposed to be the pattern. Not the best designed puzzle, but it's not trial and error at least on this riddle difficulty.

That being said, i had problems with this puzzle as well, but its not the worst imo

this is the worst even on normal difficulty, it requires you to have pre knowledge, outside of the game. about the stories and characters on Shakespearean works

>you're what's wrong with modern RPGs
The journal is a vestigial relic from the tabletop days. It is unnecessary and not immersive. So I get a quest, and then I have to go into a menu to read the details of it? Journal is shitty, and I never just followed the quest markers. I always turned them off. The journal should just be a log recording everything the game already told you. Not the place where they threw in the details that they couldn't bother putting in the game.
I'll never forget this fucking puzzle.

The only one that is even slightly competant is the boss covered in hands, the rest of the boss monsters designs have very little to do with their plot counterparts, tell me howa giant spider represents Alex's guilt over killing his brother in a lake
And the generic monsters were just that, boring lumps of bland coloured flesh with no interesting aspects pertaining to Alex at all
What was your favourite one? Beige Dog? Beige guy with big arms? Beige blob with an arrow for a head? Or was it the nurse they stole from SH2 that had no reason to be there other than "do you guys remember that way better game that you could be playing instead"

Doesn't change anything about it just being lazy and dull details added to make a horrible boss design make sense, maybe if it had beenJosh'smain interest I could accept it but the game pushed the whole army aspect way harder because it was actually supposed to be there
The design for thefinal bossof a Silent Hill game should not be based on tangential details
>Go back to watching DSP, you fucking loser. The nurses in SH3 and 4 made no goddamn sense.
You're right, the nurses in 3 and 4 made no sense either, do you hear me defending them?
> These do, even if the designs are ripped from the movie, which obviously took them from SH2.
Once again, tenuous connections are not good connections, just because something barely makes sense doesn't mean it should be given a pass, maybe if they'd changed the designs and weren't obviously pandering to fans of SH2 it would be acceptable, maybe if that had been the only blatant pandering I could look past it but what it ended up being was

>either
>do you hear me defending them
I don't hear you admitting you were wrong.

The design of the nurses is slightly different, and it makes sense that they'd be there.

>>379548243
Bad character details are yes, or do you think that just having any information on a character makes it good
I'm gonna try this one more time and hope that your next rebuttal at least takes it into account
Just because they added unimportant and barely present details to justify why they made the boss look like that doesn't mean it actually justifies it
I have very little doubt in my mind that the design for that boss was one of the first things made and they tried to fit the game to it rather than the other way around, even if that's not the case it doesn't excuse their generic and bland bullshit
You'll note my only complaint about theBody in the middleis that it looked like crap, because it actually made sense
>I don't hear you admitting you were wrong.
About what? The nurses were tacked on and out of place
>Oh but their models were ever so slightly different
Doesn't change the fact that everyone that had played SH2 recognised them as a shitty ripoff
>I-I'm not autistic, I swear!
