Currently playing through all the campaigns ... again. and inbetween I go online for some quick matches.
Up to this point I played every Wipeout so far (including 64), but made the mistake of buying every Sony console between PS2 and Ps4 after its lifespan, so I never played Wipeout online.

Omega Collection is garbage so I spent today playing Pulse and Pure on PPSSPP. Pure's handling is so fucking fun, I don't really get why they dropped it in Pulse. The slow acceleration of the ships especially added more depth to the game.

Unfortunately doesn't include the Saturn exclusive tracks for the first game (Poison and Planet 9 are killer tracks), and Pure is missing Gold Rush vov. The music in 2097 is the one from the actual game, not the released CD titled WipEout 2097: The Soundtrack, so it doesn't have Photek's Titan or Source Direct's 2097.

The songs for the first two games have weird file names but the metadata checks out, should be fine on a music player. Just sort by album and it should look good.

You're not really moving at anything more than 400kmh in AG games unless the scale is actually set up for it.
There's no way a car-sized anything is going to take any fucking hairpins at 400kmh or something similar. Again, if they are sized like a F1 race track. I don't know about F-Zero or Wipeout, but im pretty sure Redout just multiplies the velocity value.

they really missed the mark in ship balance for 2048. It seems like there is no reason to use anything other than Feisar speed for races and Qirex fighter for elimination. why use an agility ship for anything?

Feisar Prototype is actually best on a lot of tracks, but in races in can be risky outside Capital Reach and Unity Square.

Pir-hana speed is decent on lower speed class and especially some tracks like Subway, but doesn't quite cut it on A/A+ in general (lot of people use AG-Systems speed for A+). Qirex Speed is kinda a in-between if need be.

Qirex Prototype can actually win every races by making everyone DNF too, it's hard but people won A+ races that way (and sometime set record times).

And in 2048 Zone ship stats matter unlike HD, so you don't want to use anything but AG-Systems Agility really.

Probably part of why in the online system you'd select an event on a specific track, and pick an appropriate ship for it. While lobbies are nicer, you often get hosts that won't even give you half a second to change ship.. so in the end I mostly just use Feisar Speed since it's the most generic for whatever. I sometime sneak in a Feisar Prototype when I get the chance on the right tracks though.

Does Omega's Racebox allow you to restrict ship types for each event? I think that would make things more interesting and let some ships shine out better; otherwise you get people defaulting to something like Qirex or Auricom Fighters/Prototypes in elimination, for example.
