>Gen Z hates the most kino controller of all time
The analog stick alone makes it the worst controller ever
>>379511654I unironically love the n64 controller
>>379512132
any controller with an analog stick is trash, honestly
That controller is complete shit,
There's literally no proper way to hold it.

I know, so difficult.

>inb4 "controller made for three-armed people"
Real talk though, it was pretty revolutionary for its time. The whole purpose of the three handles was a future-proofing move, so just in case 3D games proved to not catch on, people could just hold onto the left handle instead for a proper D-pad.
What I find most interesting about the controler are the C-Buttons. This technically makes the N64 controller the controller with the most face buttons (six instead of the usual four), which was put to functional use in a lot of Rareware games especially. The fact that they doubled as camera controls before we thought of using a second analog stick is really amusing to me for some reason; this thing really was a product of its era.
The analog stick is weird though. It's actually got more sensitivity and a wider range of motion than any other analog stick, but its build quality has led to a lot of broken controllers today. The Hori replacements emulate the Gamecube style, which are sturdier, but remove a lot of the fine movements you used to be able to do in stuff like Smash Bros, Mario 64, and the Banjo games.

I'm out of the loop in the controller business. I rememeber the N64 analog stick would eventually wear out making it barely usable.
What makes the modern analog stick so durable?
>>379512430
Dpad how
>>379512506
Well for one, they don't use cheap plastic anymore. But more importantly, the design of sticks have changed. If you look at any modern controller, you'll notice that below the actual stick is a ball that moves with the stick. This is to prevent what happened with the N64 controller, where the stick would grind against the sides of a bowl. Plus, there were a lot of N64 games that required you to rotate the stick a lot, which just wore it out even further. Eventually, as the bottom of the stick literally disintegrated, it would lose its sturdiness and led to the loose sticks you see so commonly nowadays.

I always appreciated the way some games would allow both D-Pad and Stick for movement. But most games did not do this unfortunately.
I thought the D-Pad was a substitute for the Stick in case the latter would wear out, and it did :(
>>379511654
The Rumble pack was pretty beast on it.
>>379511654human n64 controller fanart when
>>379512687
d-pad's not used. honestly the amount of people who have never played a fuckin n64 astounds me.
>>379512391
Now use the dpad.
>>379513179
Practically no 3D games used the left handle, that was for 2D games. Have you ever even played a single N64 game?
>>379512687
dont use the dpad in that game.
the N64 controller can be held in 2 different ways, 1 for 3d games, that one, and full hands on dpad for 2d games.
Why do you think sony then copied Nintendo with the duelshock
>>379512132
fpbp
>>379512132
Its a very accurate analogue stick and you hold it at a comfortable angle. Durability is its only problem
>>379513264
Don't forget games like Robotron 64 which you use analogue an dpad at the same time in based left position.
>>379513095
having half of your controller be useless is a flaw.
>>379512132
This
It's nice at first but give it an hour and your thumb will fucking despise you

ERRYTHIN IS KINO COMFY ANON
FUCK OFF
>>379512445
the analog stick of the n64 is miles ahead of any other analog stick, too bad they cheapened out on the materials
>>379513776
Ironically the on single greatest strength of the N64 controller that no other controller properly has is that you can just detach the controller stick and plug in a new one if the old one falls to shit. Literally every controller should do this.
>>379511654
DUDE totally agree! check this out
>Gen Z hates the most kino chair of all time
>>379511654
This TV is also kino
>>379511654
You guys remember these right? totally kino bro
>>379511654
Still can't grasp how you millennial cunts grew up with that abomination. Give me the PSOne/PS2 analog stick controller any day.
>>379516273
Used to think I wanted one of these when i was a little kid. Then I actually sat in one at a friends house. The discomfort of the chair combined with the lingering smell of vomit (cause we both had a very bad case of the flu) have become synonymous in my mind.
I literally smell chuke every time i see one of these.
I love the n64 controller but the control stick is too stiff compared to the Gamecube's.

I think you have some things confused there, hoss....

BUT DUDE! IT'S TOTALLY KINO BRO! Kino as fuck, even, bro!

If you were a kid when the N64 was a thing, you're a millenial.

Which is why I said PSOne and not PSX
