Knife makes you run fast and switching with sniper while scoped is faster than toggling through the different zoom distances

I do it to set up a shortcut switch so that I can quickly switch to a weapon based off of my prediction of how things are going to play out in the beginning of the round. It can be a certain type of grenade or a sidearm. The knife switch is to get the fuck out of the way after firing the AWP.

New players watch pro games. Pro players do it. New players do it too because "muh pro does it", becomes a habit. Everyone now does it.

You prepare a side equip you can switch to by pressing Q which always switches to previous item.
Those are the default controls that most people use. People are literally preparing grenades.
