Is horrible an acceptable answer?
>>
Really bad.

So bad that most of the time I have no motivation to play video games.
>>
It's pretty bad.
Still, can't stand people giving me shit for it, especially when most of those people have much more unhealthy habits.
>>
>>379506313
I don't have one
>>
I once spent most of my day playing Skyrim.....

Yeah, that I regret.......

Same here. My mother gives me shit for it despite the fact she does nothing her self but play candy crush all day most days.
>>
>>379506313
Not that bad, I mostly play on between waiting for my models to dry before applying the next color.
why are flowers in trio of towns a measure of friend points and not love points? I have no idea if I'm even close to delicious green eyes

>playing MMO years ago
>after trying many times and failing I finally reach the boss' dungeon
>it's a small boss rush with increasing difficulty
>underleveled as fuck and soloing everything
>finally reach the last fight
>it's in a small room with no portals or safe zones
>only do like 0.30% damage per hit and have to constantly run away from the boss
>I've been fighting for what feels like an hour and still have a long way to go
>suddenly my yandere friend comes to visit
>my door is locked as always
>can't even spare 5 seconds to open the door without dying
>keep shouting I'M COMING! WAIT A BIT! for like another hour
>she gets mad as fuck and grabs a ladder to get in through the window
In the end I managed to win so it was all worth it.

I usually play games everyday, but not all day. Haven't played any in a couple of days. I used to be able to play games for 48 hours-72 hours at a time, (Guild Wars) now I can play for maybe 8 hours before I decide to take a break.
>>
It's a normal thing for me to play video games too long and actually forget to eat. So basically I play until I feel too weak and shaky to play anymore and have to cook something.
>>
>>379511887
The bad thing about my addiction is that I don't even play real video games anymore, it's just mindless shit like MOBAs, card games and roguelites. I don't play them to have fun, I play them to distract myself from my problems.

I wish my gaming was still an addiction, like it used to be. I was happy then. Now, now...nah. I play autism games like roguelikes or rpg's with deep systems and can play them for hours on end in bursts that will add up maybe 50 hrs in a week, but I can also go 3-4 months without touching a game.

I think I like to be mathematically stimulated more than just enjoy games.

About as bad as anything else.
I'm a binge-er. If I start a tv series, I watch it all in as few sittings as possible. Theres been many days I'm bleary eyed at work because I watched 2 seasons of an anime or miniseries in an all nighter.
If I buy a new game and like it, I'll spend all the time I can on it until it's done, at which point I don't want to play anything for a long time.
I don't buy junk food because I'll eat it all in one sitting, and I like to be /fit/.
I wouldn't even say I have an addictive personality I just have zero moderation. I'm completely all or nothing.
>>
>>379506313
Depends on the game. Platforming games and sidescrollers I find it very difficult to put down. The energy and adrenaline of getting to a really hard part in a sidescroller is a lot more intense than a really hard part in a slower-paced game like Zelda. (except Zelda 2) Half-Genie Hero in particular I've been finding hard to put down lately. I'm almost afraid to pick it up again because once I do I may not be able to pull myself away until I beat it.
>>
>>379506775
Why does it always seem like people only want to bother me when I'm trying to relax? I mean you can come to me literally any other time but you choose the moment I close my door and turn on some vidya to come and ask me to to some shit that You don't even need me there for. I hate coming home from work and dealing with more shit like this.
>>
>>379512292
I'm the same way. You're doing great avoiding junk food, I used to buy a bunch of oreos and eat all of them in a single sitting with some milk.
>>
>>379512292
I'm this guy. If it's a game I'm loving I'll play it every second I can until it's done, I'm the same with TV shows too. Also to the point where I won't sleep much for work the next day, I think from early 20s I sleep about 4-6 hours a night, think my body is used to it now. Means more time to play games or watch stuff.
>>
>>379506313
I can't think of anything else to do
>>
>>379512647
I don't think I could eat all those oreos like that man maybe just the cookie part but not the filling itself.
>>
>>379506313
not bad at all
When someone asks me to do something then I can do it as soon as I finish what I am currently doing. (EG: playing a match in a game)

its just that I won't stop doing whatever the fuck I am doing because someone wants me to do something.
>>
>>379512292
Same as you.
Not that fit though and want to start working out. Skinny with a bit of a belly and subpar posture but nowhere near fat.
But I pretty much entirely lost my craving for sweets two years ago when i had a meltdown.
Used to chow down atleast two kitkat chunkies a day plus whatever else chips or candy we had lying around. Now i maybe take one bite of icecream or whatever and i'm done.

I do now have crazy cravings for good warm filling food now. Like nice plate of homemade pasta with sauce and eggs and tostis etc.

I do have shit concentration and stressmanagement though. I really should be writing a fucking paper right now.
>>
>>379512647
What's dangerous to me is things like flavor blasted goldfish and extra toasty cheezits.
If it's a chip or cracker with salt, I will eat the whole bag/box without a thought. I just pour goldfish directly in my mouth. I drink the motherfuckers.
So I just don't buy them. Whenever i visit home my mom has all this snack food in the cubbord and I wreck it and feel like shit for a day afterwards.
>>
People using vidya as their nearly sole method of escapism gets mischaracterized as addicts quite often. Case in point, OP. Not to say there aren't people who are legit addicted to it, but I'd imagine they're marginal part of the userbase even on a place like /v/.

For example, I play and talk about vidya a metric fuckton, but I can easily just drop that and not even miss it for a long period of time. I have also done so many times in the past. A soccer mom / hack journalist will see/paint me as an addict, but it's just a very nice form of escapism for me. Take it away and my life won't improve one bit. I'll just start using something else. Like drugs or social media or movies or books.
>>
>>379512153
Yeah, that's what I used to do too, same reasons. But eventually I couldn't stomach another round of DotA and now I just watch paint dry for hours.
It's a bit like I feel guilty for wasting my time grinding shit in a game I'm not even having fun with, but at the same I lack the motivation to do anything productive.
>>
>>379513404
This. Take away TV from someone who watches it every night, take away books from someone who loves to read. Same thing, just focusing your attention to what you prefer doing.
>>
I'd say my addiction to video game hype and discussion is much worse

i spend much more time talking about games, watching gameplay, researching, looking for something on the horizon that will recapture my childhood love of gaming, to no avail.
>>
How do I allow myself to play games but still finish work for my classes, run errands when I need to, and go to sleep at a normal time?

Literally any chance I get I will play games and neglect everything I should do, including eat. I quit for a semester but when classes ended I spent all my spare time playing games.

People who can manage their time and exhibit self-control are like fucking miracle workers to me.
>>
>>379513613
Are you me? I talk about games more than I play them. Maybe it's just a sign of getting older.
>>
>>379513914
tfw you can't talk about the new games because you're too busy to play them
>>
>>379513863
play games that aren't "active" or real time. Play something that you can pause and put down and pick back up later at any point you want. I didn't realize it until my addiction was waning but even having cutscenes that can't be paused is annoying to me now.

I play rpgs and have no problem turning it on and playing for 20 minutes and saving and then coming back when my errands are done. The added fun to this is it gives you time to mull over the game or things surrounding it. I hated FF12 the first time I played it, I'm replaying it now and the game and its world are alot more coherent than I remembered it being, all because I'll wait a day or 2 before playing it again, but in that time I'll think about the game and its world often.

It gives a more well rounded opinion of anything really.
>>
>>379511980

>>
>>379510636

>>
>>379506313

>>
I play video games because I have nothing else to do. I'm trying to get jobs but it's hard. If I had something better to do I would do it.

I can lower my average weekly playing hours by smoking weed, which is completely beneficial because every dudebro will tell you that you can't get addicted to that
>>
I have no addiction, besides playing 6 hour sessions for like a week when a new Souls game hits.
>>
>>379516290
I used to be addicted to weed. My brother grows it so I had access to pounds of weed. I smoked multiple times ever day. Eventually 1 bowl wasn't enough to get me high anymore. Eventually I reached a point where I was unable to eat anything unless I had weed in my system. If I didn't smoked weed I would feel lifeless and with no energy like a vampire sucked my life force.
>>
I shitpost about video games more than I play video games

Whatever, 3/4 of americans have that exact relationship with sugar.
>>
>>379514251
Sadly even though I do like turn based games, if I do get the urge to play any game then its overwhelming. Like now I'm grinding out classes for the new FFXIV expansion because I want to play it when everything is fresh and when an Overwatch event starts I have to grind out a fuck ton of lootboxes so that I don't miss too much "limited edition" shit

You require sugar to survive though. Your brain runs solely on glucose. Nothing in your body requires THC

I found that popcorn is a great substitute for snacks. You can binge all you want and they don't really leave an impact as big as other foods.

Stove popcorn is just so good.

I stopped eating popcorn because I'd get those kernels stuck in my gums all the time.
