Just enough has been changed in terms of mechanics, setting, and lore that the entire experience feels fresh in a way that Dark Souls II simply didn’t. But enough remains intact from those previous games, that the experience will be familiar to any veteran of the Souls franchise. In that sense, this may as well be “Beast Souls” as it was code-named at one point. Just the same, Bloodborne works as a title because the departure from “souls” themselves and the new focus on “blood” is so stark.

Didn't Bloodborne come out years ago? It used to be called Knack but then it was reworked and delayed and Sony drones were disappointed they didn't get that God of War and Katamari action game they wanted. Truth is I think it was good Flum Software went with this direction after their Dull Socks game became a hit because there was no way that Knuck game was going to make it. Anyway, I haven't played Bloodborne yet but 9/10 is bullshit. It deserves 11/10.
