Tried to play 1, but it just felt really awkward to play. Was going to play 2 but computer broke before I got the chance, so played 3 on a PS4

Worst advice. The original game is dated in gameplay terms, but I'm incredibly glad that I forced myself through it. The story is excellent and really fleshes out Geralt as a character. It's also amazing just how much stuff in the sequels was set up way back in the first game.

Just play it with the combat rebalance mod. It makes the combat much less of a slog, since everything dies faster (including you, but it's fine).
